Join the Mobile Chapter of AWWA and AWEA Young Professionals on Wednesday, August 19th for a Lunch and Learn hosted by Casey Morgan of Vortex Companies.Vortex Companies is a contractor and manufacturer specializing in trenchless rehabilitation and inspection for the water and wastewater industry. Vortex Services performs pipe and manhole lining, inspection, cleaning, and pipe bursting, while Vortex Products delivers a full suite of liners, coatings, grouts, robotics, and related technologies.
Educational Objectives:
This session will provide attendees with practical, applicable knowledge for collection system asset management, including:
- Collection system maintenance planning: How trenchless inspection and cleaning data (CCTV, sonar/laser profiling) inform proactive maintenance scheduling, and how condition assessment findings translate into recommended inspection frequencies for gravity sewer mains and manholes based on age, material, and criticality.
- Manhole rehabilitation technologies: An overview of manhole lining and coating systems (cementitious, epoxy, polyurethane/polyurea, and structural liner options), how each addresses corrosion, infiltration, and structural deterioration, and the factors utilities should weigh when selecting a lining method for a given manhole condition.
- Trenchless pipe rehabilitation methods: How CIPP lining, pipe bursting, and related products fit into a utility's renewal toolkit as alternatives to open-cut replacement, along with material and installation considerations relevant to specification and procurement.
