CONVEYING AND CLEANING ANAEROBIC DIGESTER GAS IN A MUNICIPAL ANAEROBIC DIGESTION FACILITY
Nicholas A. Mignone

It seems simple enough. Install some pipe, some gas safety equipment, a flare or use as input for energy generation. Why then does the gas conveying and utilization part of a municipal anaerobic digestion system become a "pain in the butt" to maintain or in the extreme case, a safety issue leading to a possible fatality. This presentation is broken into two parts. First, it will review the five basic considerations of a municipal anaerobic digestion gas conveyance system - safety, materials of construction, pipe diameter, layout and installation. Second, because gas cleaning is generally required for either operability, increased asset life or air permitting requirements, it will review what are considered viable gas cleaning technologies for municipal anaerobic digestion systems.
